Friday the 13th Part 2: Did Jason Drown?

Two months after Alice survived Camp Blood, she's still haunted by the attack of Mrs. Voorhees. She takes comfort in knowing that it's all over. Only it isn't. Jason is grown up now. The first part of the movie, he kills Alice to get his revenge for his mother's death. 

It's now 5 years later and a Counselor Training Center opens near the old Crystal Lake Camp.

Once again, Crazy Ralph tries to warn everyone but why listen to him, dude's crazy. But of course murders start happening again. This time the killer is Jason and the characters in the movie try to explain and justify how he's still alive and a grown man. 

The theory is Jason lived in the woods, eating whatever he could find for all those years, he just happen to see his mother get killed and that's what triggered his killing spree. 

This theory confuses me. If Jason drowned then that means he died. If he were a ghost of some sort, then he couldn't have grown up. If he didn't really drown and just hung out in the woods for all those years, why didn't he just run to his mom? Why did he just happen by at the moment she died and not any time before that? Makes no sense to me damnit! I could go on and on about this but I won't. I have part 3 to watch. 

I'm still eagerly waiting for my His Name was Jason dvd so I'm hoping for maybe some sort of solid explanation or maybe it's something that will be covered in the remake. Maybe then I can sleep better at night knowing a well thought out sensical story to this fictional character.
