Yesterday I got the chance to watch The Last House on the Left remake. For one, I feel like this movie worked as a stand alone remake and also I've only seen the original once a long time ago. I kind of wish I would have watched it again before I went out to see this but damn me for lending it out.
I remember when I watched the original film, I felt it was a little dated but still effective. Being a chick, watching the torture/rape scenes made me quite uncomfortable and I sort of think that's the real reason why I've only seen it once.
My favorite part of the original is when the parents start their revenge rampage. Ok, specifically my favorite scene would be the penis biting and yet I don't understand why I can't find it on YouTube. But anyway, I dig the concept that the parents take things in their own hands and give these fucks what they deserve.
When watching the remake, I was looking forward to see what new things they would do in this one, plus, I wanted to see some balls out blood and gore. I was pretty happy with the end results despite no penis scene this time around.
This is another remake I can say I really like. I know that remakes aren't going to stop, especially since this is technically and second remake of the original Last House, known as The Virgin Spring. But I can say in this case, I love that it's modernized and again, more bloody than the original.

Oh, I'm glad you let us know it's a 2nd remake...I can throw that in Barry's face cause he's always so anti-remake. I was like..well, Wes Craven is cool with it, so who cares. Nice to know what Barry thought of as "the original" isn't even that.
