Happy Friday All! Here's This Week's FFR
1. Final Destination
Out of the whole series, this one is my favorite. The others were a lot of fun and every death was exciting but this one was more dark and serious. We've all had some moment in our life that could be considered "near-death," almost getting hit by a car crossing the street, choking on food, drowning (that's mine.) But when have we ever thought that we were supposed to die at that moment and "death" has to make up for it. The other films have stepped up since this one (the 4th one adding 3-D was the only stepping up on that part) but this one was the seed that lead to the others so if you haven't seen it, do it!
2. The Craft
I went to Catholic school for high school and chicks can be straight up bitches. Throw magic into the mix and well, they are even more of a bitch. This came out at the peek of my high school years when you couldn't trust even your best friend and everyone talked about everyone else. Girls can watch this and related to the overall cattiness and guys can watch it for hot chicks and a girl-on-girl fight scene at the end.
3. Big Bad Wolf
College kids hang out in a remote cabin in the woods. The kids are attacked by a trash-talkin' werewolf but only two survive. Derek and Kim, bffs, conclude it's Derek's stepfather and begin to investigate.
The thing that I love about this movie is the fact that the werewolf talks. Just running through my head a few werewolf movies, once the person transforms, they growl a lot, not pass witty banter before and after killing people. For that and that alone, I have to recommend this.
4. Pin
You know those Old Navy commercials where the mannequin carry on with their life drama and express their wardrobe enthusiasm. I find those just as scary as any horror movies. Mannequins are scary!
Ursula and Leon are sister and brother, living alone with a large wooden puppet they call "Pin" (for Pinocchio). When Ursula starts hanging around with new boyfriend Stan, Leon and Pin take action.
It's been a very long time since I've seen this but I remember being majorly creeped out, especially when Pin "talked." I don't remember if Pin is real of just a reflection of Leon's angry feelings but either way *SHUDDER*
5. Audition
A lonely Japanese widower whose son is planning to move out of the house soon expresses his sadness to a friend and fellow film producer, who becomes inspired to hold an audition for a non-existent film so that the widower can select a new potential bride from the resulting audition pool. The widower ultimately becomes enamored with and fascinated by one particular young woman, but first impressions can often be horribly wrong.
I love Takashi Miike and was so thrilled to see it listed so I have to recommend this to people. This isn't a movie for everyone, it's pretty twisted and takes some time to get there but it's a pretty great movie.
Got a few minutes? Check out FearNet web series Fear Clinic.
Horror legend Robert Englund stars as the sinister, maniacal genius Dr. Andover. His obsession: to cure humanity's worst fears. His method: the Fear Chamber, a device of his creation that can bring any worst fear to life. With Dr. Andover's extreme methods his unwilling patients will be cured for good...or die trying!
Have a good weekend!

PIN freaks me out to this day. I saw that movie at friends then walked home in the dark, and I kept hearing the PIN voice in my head.
