Happy Friday Folks! Here's this week's FFR!
Dead Zone
Cronenberg + King with a side of Walken= magic.
After surviving a car accident, Johnny Smith wakes up from a coma with kick-ass psychic powers.
This is one of my favorite King adaptations and I love that the movie has different layers. Johnny realizes his powers and has to deal with knowing the things that he knows all while trying to piece together the 4 years he lost. Meanwhile, there's a killer loose in town then he has to stop Martin Sheen from ending the world. It's a burden for one man but Johnny brings it.
This movie was also a great segue to a USA network show. I've watched a lot of episodes and I thought the show was very decent and the characters developed well.
Serenity
Joss Whedon is on my of list of "writers/directors who can take a steamin' dump on a blank dvd and I'd still put it in my dvd player just to watch it."
I must admit that I did not watch all of Firefly until this year. In my defense, the show came on Friday nights and at the time I was young and going out every weekend. I did watch Serenity before seeing the show and I absolutely loved it. It's not required to see any of the episodes before seeing the movie since it's a round-up/extension of the show.
Eyes Without a Face
There's a poster of for this movie hanging up at one of my local theaters and I've always been so intrigued by it. I didn't know what it was about but I knew that I had to see it one day. I finally got that chance last year at a horror marathon and was quite blown away but how fantastic this film is.
A surgeon tries to fix his daughter's disfigured face by trying to find a donor for her, in any means he can. Hmmm.
It's a beautifully disturbing movie.
Fallen
Fallen is a mind-bending thriller and I love the root of the evil spirit unlike in Shocker, the dude just does voodoo shit to get his powers. In Fallen, you can't tell if someone's possessed by a limp or trash talk, you don't know who you can really trust and that's the scary thing.
I love the way the story-telling aspect plays out and flows throughout the movie. I remember when I saw this for the first time and it ended, I had a "whoa, wait, I need a minute...whoa."
Right at Your Door
I would like to think that if I were married and one day I get exposed to a dirty bomb, my husband would do all he could to help. The husband in this movie rather lock his wife outside and do everything to keep her away from him so he doesn't catch anything. What a dick. The movie moves a little slow but the end has a huge impact on the husband's decision and his plan to stay safe inside.
I thought this week I'd take a break from pulling movies from Fearnet (plus I've recommended everything I've seen already and don't know too much on the other ones I haven't seen) So I thought this week we'd give Hulu a try.Troll 2
Ok, let's be honest, this movie is crap, it's silly, it
makes no sense, there are a lot of WTF? moments, but who can't love this movie? It's friggin' gold! A lot of bad movies I watch are just straight up painful. I cringe at bad dialogue and shudder at bad acting but this movie hold some amazing goblin powers that makes it enchanting and irresistible. This definitely earns the title of "Best Worst Movie."
Parents
American Gothic
Got an hour? I watched a lot of horror tv shows when I was younger and a lot of them stuck with me throughout my life. American Gothic is one of those.
It's been a while since I've seen this show so I'll have to sit down and watch it again to see if it still gives me the dramatic, creepy feelings it did before.
Have a great weekend!

Really good recommendations!!
As a side note, the documentary on Troll 2 called Best Worst Movie about its whole reputation and whatnot (which i think our showing here in Chicago might be in it) is making its rounds around the country. Something for people to keep an eye out for.
I read about Eyes Without A Face just yesterday and now I HAVE to see it. It looks amazing.
And as for Troll 2? I gotta agree. The fact that there was a Troll 1 and they didn't just stop there...it's commendable.
Catching up on my blogs here and I like your list overall but I have to say that for some reason EYES WITHOUT A FACE never did anything for me.
Horror is subjective I guess.
I think a lot of older horror films are acquired taste but there's movies people are going to like an don't like :)
