Friday Film Recommendations: Jan 29th

Happy Friday All. Here's this week's FFR. Enjoy!

The Man with the Screaming Brain

Bruce Campbell in a...low budget movie!? So this isn't the best of the Campbell collection but it's perfect for anyone in a schtick-y B-movie kind of mood. And dude, it's Bruce Campbell. Regardless, it's a win.

Eight Legged Freaks

I can't resist small town movies that have big *small animal/insect/whatever turns large* kind of plots. You know going in it's going to be cheesy but you know no matter what, you'll find a reason to enjoy it. Watching this trailer completely put me in the mood to watch this again.

Innocent Blood

If the Soprano's ever had an episode that had to do with a vampire. It would be this movie.

The awesome John Landis directs this tale of a sexy vampire, Marie, on a mission to clean up one of her mistakes. Instead of killing a mobster she was feeding on, she was interrupted before she could eliminate his chance to turn. As the mobster realizes he's a vamp, he decides to "recruit" his gang and start a new blood-suckin' crew. Marie is joined by a cop that wants to put the mob away. Sparks fly and well, you know.... just watch!

Return of the Living Dead Part II

With all the Dead movies that I have seen countless amount of times, I'm certain I've seen this one the most. The zombies are a bit more advance with talking and some even dance too! (Sorry MJ fans, too soon?)

This sequel took the same rotting flesh zombies and added comedy to their demeanor. Good times.

Death and the Maiden

This is a not horror but totally screwed up movie.

This Roman Polanski film is about an unlikely triangle between a disturbed house wife, Paulina, her prominent lawyer husband, and a doctor, intertwine when Paulina accuses the doctor of torturing her many years ago.

Paulina's scrambled mind is convinced that the doctor is the one and keeps him captive until he admits his crimes. Gerardo, her husband is torn between knowing the truth and upholding the law. It's a struggle to see who breaks first. For a subtly paced movie, it's still very intense.

High Tension Director's Cut

Alex and Marie encounter a maniacal while visiting Alex's family in the remote country-side.

I will be the first the admit that this movie is exploding with plot holes. I remember seeing the trailer for this and thinking "wow, I have to see this!" Just enjoying the thrills and yes the tension in a lot of the scenes made me see past the "um...wait a freakin' minute" parts. I just sucked it up instead of questioning things. I'm happy to see that the DC version is available to view since I think those tib bits of gore make an impactive difference.

Skinwalkers

Sort of a mediocre werewolf movie but if you want to break out some themed wolf movies in honor of the Wolfman's upcoming release, here's your chance to see Skinwalkers.

Have a great weekend!

Did you hear George Romero's "Survival of the Dead" got a release date?

I hear Spring but VOD around May or something like that before a limited theater release. I'll be all on it either way.

Love Innocent Blood!! Haven't seen it in a long time though. Need to watch it. And I liked Man With The Screaming Brain. Not a great film by any stretch but I find it entertaining.
